The Custom Christmas Stocking Name Tag is a laser-cut script name tag for stockings, trees and wrapped gifts, available in 1/8″ draft board, red acrylic or white pearl acrylic, with capital letters about 2″ tall, up to 15 characters per name, and a digital proof sent for your approval before anything gets cut.
You know the drill! The stockings go up first. Then somebody asks whose is whose, and this year they see whose is whose!
Our Christmas Stocking Name Tags are cut as one connected piece of flowing script, hanging off the loop of the stocking where everyone can see it. On draft board the laser leaves a warm dark brown edge all the way around the letters, so the name looks burned in rather than printed on. Red acrylic reads bright and glossy against felt. White has a soft shimmer that shifts when the light moves, which is why it does so well as an ornament on a white or flocked tree.
The capitals run about 2″ tall. Length depends on the name, so ELIZABETH is a long elegant sweep and MAX is a compact little thing, and both look right because the script is cut as one piece instead of assembled from separate letters.
We cut them to order in Palm Springs, and you see a proof first. Order one for a new baby, or twelve for the whole family plus the dog. People do both.

FAQs
How big are personalized stocking name tags?
The stocking name tag capital letters are about 2″ tall, and the width depends on how long the name is. A four-letter name is compact, a nine-letter name stretches out. Customers regularly tell us they arrive bigger than expected, and they mean that as a compliment. If you want to know the exact width before you order, message us the name and we’ll measure it off the cut file.
Should I get wood or acrylic stocking name tags?
Wood if your stockings are felt, knit, burlap or anything with texture, because the draft board with its dark etched edge sits warm against them. Red acrylic if you want the classic holiday pop, especially on a green tree or a white mantel. White pearl if your palette is white, silver, flocked or icy, since the shimmer catches light instead of disappearing into it. Wood is also the least expensive of the three, which matters when you’re buying six of them.
How many letters can I fit on a stocking name tag?
Fifteen characters maximum. That covers almost every first name and most nicknames. If you’re set on something longer, or you want two names on one tag, message us before you order and we’ll tell you honestly whether it will hold together as a cut piece and what the additional cost would be.
Does the tag come with ribbon to hang it?
No, ribbon isn’t included. There’s a hanging hole about 1/8″ across cut into the first letter, so any thin ribbon, twine, cord or ornament hook goes straight through it. We left ribbon out on purpose, because people match it to their own stockings and mantel rather than whatever we’d pick.
Can I order stocking name tags for my whole family at once?
Yes, and most people do. Type every name into the personalization box, then set the quantity to match the number of names you listed. Six names means quantity six. Mixing materials in one order is fine too, just tell us which name goes with which material and we’ll set it up that way on the proof.
When do I need to order for Christmas?
December 5 is our last day for Christmas delivery. Earlier is better, because December gets loud and USPS gets slower as it goes. If you’re ordering for a family of eight, aim for the middle of November. If you’re past the fifth and desperate, message us anyway. We’ll look at the calendar and give you a straight answer rather than take the order and hope.
Why does the wood have little spots on it?
Because it’s draft board, which is engineered wood, and small spots turn up randomly across the surface. It’s the nature of the material, not a defect, and no two pieces are identical. Most people like it. If you want a perfectly even surface with no variation, go with one of the two acrylics instead.
Can I use these for anything besides stockings?
Plenty of customers do. They hang on the tree as name ornaments, which is what Cheri did with hers. They tie onto a wrapped present instead of a paper gift tag, and unlike a paper tag they get kept. They work as place cards at the holiday table, on a wine bottle for a hostess gift, or on a gift basket. The 2″ letters are big enough to read across a room.
Do I see a proof of the Stocking Name Tag before you cut it?
Always. We send a digital proof and nothing goes on the laser until you approve it. Check the spelling, check that a nickname is the nickname you actually use, and check that you gave us the right number of names. Catching a typo on the proof costs nothing. Catching it after the tags arrive costs a reorder.
Can I choose a different font or change the design?
Not on this listing. The script style is fixed, and that’s what keeps the price where it is. If you want a different look, we have a separate acrylic Stocking Name Tag in a different script with gold fill, silver fill or etched-only finishes, and we take on custom work for larger orders. Message us and tell us what you’re picturing.
How much is shipping and where does it ship from?
These Stocking Name Tags ship from our shop in Palm Springs via USPS. The rate depends on where they’re headed, so the exact number shows at checkout once you enter your address, and orders over $35 ship free within the US. That’s usually five or six tags. We send tracking as soon as they go out.
