Derek and I are celebrating 20 years as a couple and ten years married this month. I’m not going to retell that story here. You can read all about us in the About us section. What I will say is that this is Pride month, and I think about what it means to celebrate a gay marriage in a way that feels grounded and real and serious. Not a novelty. Not a statement. Just a wedding, treated with the same craft and care as any other wedding. To celebrate our love during a month that celebrates our right to exist and love brings me an immense amount of joy and pride.
That’s what I’m trying to make. Every time.

When you google search for wedding cake toppers you are inundated with thousands of images. Most cake toppers are generic. A plastic bride and groom that looks nothing like you, or a glittery “Just Married” that could belong to anyone. We make something else.
During this Pride month I am highlighting how our toppers are for all couples, because love is worth celebrating.
Take Randy & Zuke. They came to us to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary. Frosted acrylic heart, black text, heart outline. Simple, elegant, and completely theirs.

I looked at what everyone else was making when I started Taylor Street Favors and I didn’t want to make that. The plastic silhouettes, the kitschy figurines, the stuff that looks like it came from a party supply store and ends up in the trash after the reception. None of it felt like something you’d actually want to keep. And I want you to keep it. Not because I’m some crazed ego-driven designer, but because this is your best day ever, one you have spent hours and days obsessing over every detail of. You should have a keepsake that exemplifies that. Not something to be tossed out, but to cherish.
I wanted to make something that felt rich in your hand. Something that looked as good on a shelf five years later as it did on the cake. Elegant without being fussy. Romantic without being precious. Not tied to a specific gender combination or a trend. Something that actually belongs to the two of you, whoever you are.
That’s why our materials are intentional. Why we hand paint. Why we incorporate our sense of design into every detail. We use acrylic, because it has weight and clarity that reads as intentional. Frosted is soft and romantic in photos. Clear is modern and clean. Both feel like something worth keeping.
Acrylic Heart Mr & Mr Cake Topper
On our Acrylic Heart Mr & Mr Cake Topper, shown above for Randy & Zuke, you can add your names and your wedding or anniversary date on it. We Laser-cut and hand paint these in our shop here in Palm Springs. Made for you specifically, not pulled from a shelf. Each is unique because you are. The fonts, the finish, the icons, the details — every choice you make in designing your topper is a reflection of the two of you. That’s the point.
1/8-inch thick frosted or clear acrylic. 6 inches wide, 5.5 inches tall, with a 2-inch insertion stake, so it sits on the cake without sinking. You can also purchase this with a 4” insertion stake or no insertion stake if you are looking for a cake charm. Your names, your date, laser-etched in our shop. A digital proof within 24 hours of your order. Nothing goes to production until you approve it. Ships within 4 business days.
